1. Marrakech — Departure 08:30
Passengers are collected from their Marrakech hotel, or from the nearest point a minibus can get to. Everyone boards a modern air-conditioned vehicle seating no more than 17 and the road heads northeast.
Nineteen euros, a seat on the minibus, and four hours at the falls to spend as you like. Swim in the pools, walk down to the base, watch the macaques work the crowd.

The route runs out across the Tadla plains, through farmland and peach orchards and wide fields of olive trees, with the Middle Atlas foothills building ahead.
You arrive at Tanaghmeilt village in Azilal province.
A local guide can be added on the spot for about EUR 3 per person, walking the trails with the group and talking through the geology, the plants and the wildlife.
Anyone who would rather go it alone can, since the paths are well marked.
The next 4 to 5 hours are free time.
Shaded paths drop through olive groves and fig trees to viewpoint after viewpoint over the 110-metre cascades, and where the sun hits the mist a rainbow sits there permanently.
Barbary macaques turn up too, in the branches and along the rocks.
At the bottom, natural pools make swimming hard to resist.
Small boats run for about 20 MAD along the El Abid River and pass under the spray, and local operators run cliff-jumping for anyone with the nerve.
Lunch means the riverside cafes and the falls in front of you: fresh mint tea, Moroccan salads, grilled meats, Berber tagines, at roughly 80-120 MAD.
Bringing a picnic works just as well.
The climb back up to the village takes 20 to 30 minutes at a steady pace.
The small stalls at the top sell argan products and local crafts.
The driver waits at the village car park, and from there the minibus starts the three-hour run back, with a comfort stop on the way.
Drop-off in Marrakech happens between 19:00 and 20:00 at your hotel or the nearest accessible point, the exact time depending on traffic and season.
