About this tour
A shared minibus day out from Marrakech into the Ourika Valley, the closest mountain country to the city, 60 kilometres out and roughly an hour on the road. On the way the bus stops at a women’s argan oil cooperative, then climbs into the valley itself, past red-rock gorges, terraced fields, walnut groves and Berber villages built into the slopes.
The day ends up at Setti Fatma, 1,500 metres up, where you have free time. From there you can take the trail to the first waterfall, some 45 minutes of climbing in each direction, with a local guide hired on the spot, or keep to the flat valley floor with its riverside cafes and its village stalls. Lunch is under the walnut trees by the water and each traveller pays for their own.
Departures leave daily at 09:00 in an air-conditioned minibus carrying no more than 17 passengers and get back to Marrakech between 17:00 and 18:00, and on Mondays the weekly Berber market at Tnin Ourika is added to the route.

Setti Fatma — Waterfall or Village Experience
At Setti Fatma, there are two ways to spend the time.
Option A is the waterfall, roughly 1.5 hours there and back. A local hiking guide can be hired on site for a small fee paid direct. The rocky trail climbs about 45 minutes to the first fall, crossing streams, threading past small cafes and working around boulders. It is moderate going and sturdy shoes are not optional. The waterfall drops into a mountain amphitheatre at 1,500 metres.
Option B keeps you low. Spend the time at the riverside cafes, explore the village stalls, or visit a Berber home in the traditional style for tea. The valley floor is level and easy enough to walk.
-
Day 05
